Yangshuo Adventure China 5 days ex Guilin/Yangshuo
Do you like getting away from all the crowds and seeing un-spoilt countryside and local life? For those with active and adventurous tastes this tour gives you access to the best of Yangshuo's stunning scenery but with a more challenging bent: the cycling is off the beaten track and often hilly and to complete the experience we throw in an activity to suit you such as rockclimbing, kayaking, or caving. It's a strenuous tour at times and suited to those that like to work for their fun! There’s still time in Yangshuo to check out the lively traveller scene but the core of the trip is spent in smaller villages. You'll have a local guide with you for the cycling and a team of guides to get you climbing one of Yangshuo's famous peaks. If kayaking is your thing then you will find yourself paddling solo down the beautiful Li River or if you wish to head underground we can organise a trip through a water cave with waterfalls, streams and mud pools. If you like to be active then Yangshuo is the place for you!

Day 2 Cycle Yangshuo to XingPing
|
Guided by a local expert, you cycle north out of Yangshuo through some of the bigger karst mountains in the area. Your destination is Xing Ping and you’ll need a daypack to bring your essentials for an overnight stay here. The day starts with winding uphill as you navigate your way from flat land rice plots and bamboo-lined rivers through rice-terraces, tea plantations and orange orchards several hundred metres above the Li River Valley. With most of the hard work done in the first 20 km, you can relax a little and enjoy the spectacular views, including a waterfall, with the famous Li River meandering in and out of sight. Your cycling guide will have a packed lunch for you to eat en-route so you can pick a spot with the best views to relax for awhile. There’s a great downhill to the banks of the Li River, along which you’ll cycle, before crossing by local ferry to Xingping and your lodgings for the night. Packed lunch included. Cycle: 45 Km’s. The majority of the cycling is unsealed surface, a mix of dirt and rocks. The first 15 km is tending uphill, followed by some undulating terrain and then down into Xingping Valley. Most of the riding is on small village paths and tracks. An option to extend this route to around 60 km’s if you wish.

Day 3 To Chao Long
|
You will be starting the day early with a short smooth ride up the Li River before boarding a local boat to Yangdi: this is the prettiest section of the Li River. On arrival in Yangdi it’s time for a hearty noodle breakfast, a quick look around the local markets before hitting the road again. The road heads up steeply for three km’s as you climb away from the river. The road is sealed all the way until lunch and you will be cycling through some very pretty rural countryside and, of course, sublime karst mountain scenery. Eventually this road will join the main Guilin/ Yangshuo road on which you’ll cycle for 17 Km’s through the towns of Pu Tao and Bai Sha. We’ll take you through the local markets at Baisha where produce from the region is sold and we’ll have a great local hotpot lunch with all the local farmers. After lunch we’ll visit the 500 year old Dragon and Fuli Bridges. The cycling takes us off-road again on single track and dirt roads through rice fields and by the Yu Long River. The scenery here is out of this world and everything deserves a photo! With options to head straight for our stay in renovated farmers cottages in the village of Chao Long or to take a diversion to Moon Hill for a climb to the top, this is a big action packed day. And if the weather’s hot…we highly recommend a swim down at the river during summer! We will transfer your bags to the Chao Long Village for you. Lunch included. Cycle: 70km. Today is mostly sealed although there are long sections on fairly rough roads and single-track. There is a steep hill of about 3 km’s while the remainder is relatively flat. You have the option to extend the ride 15Km’s.

Day 4 Yangshuo
|
Today we’ll hit the road for a short ride back to the hotel in Yangshuo (your luggage will be transferred for you). Today is devoted to climbing (or the activity of your choice). Yangshuo has a developing international reputation for the quality of the rock-climbing, so we have included a half-day rock-climbing session. It does not matter if you are a novice or professional climber, these guys can and do cater to all levels. Note: If rock-climbing is not your thing, you are most welcome to replace it with · A hike through one of the caves with a local guide, or · Kayaking down the Li River, or · A half-day course at a cooking school.

Day 4 Yangshuo
